Adding to the dumbness...

I just finished reading Does the Internet Make You Dumber? By Nicholas Carr and it presents some interesting ideas on how we are becoming shallow in our thought processes due to the use of the internet and media vice reading books.  So are we adding to the idiocy of the human race by typing these words in this class?  I’d like to think not.  But what is the likelihood that someone will read this post, besides possibly the professor?  I’d say 1/10 maybe, so maybe I won’t have such a negative affect on our downgrade in intelligence.

At the end of the article, he mentions that we are going back in thought to a time when we used our senses for survival.  So, are we to regress back to that level of thought and technology?  Are we going to invent ourselves into being the dumb people from the movie “Idiocracy”?  I like what the article has to offer, the wife and I agree that we need to read more books, besides the Dr. Seuss books we read to the 5 kids.
